Regular Season Round 16: Chalons-Reims - Le Portel 97-87

Everything went according to plan when eleventh ranked Chalons-Reims (7-9) beat at home bottom-ranked Le Portel (3-13) 97-87 on Monday. Chalons-Reims made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 65.0 percentage. Chalons-Reims looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Le Portel was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Jimmy Baron (191-86, college: URI) who helped to win the game recording 22 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and point guard Jean-Baptiste Maille (189-93) who added 12 points and 8 assists during the contest. At the losing side American guard DAngelo Harrison (193-93, college: St.John's) responded with 36 points (!!!) and swingman Pierre-Etienne Drouault (196-90) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Chalons-Reims moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Nanterre. Le Portel lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Chalons-Reims will have a break next round. Le Portel will play at home against JSF Nanterre (#10) and hope to win that game.
