Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Gharafa (#7) and Al Sadd (#8). Al Gharafa (2-3) smashed visiting Al Sadd (0-5) by 48 points 117-69. They outrebounded Al Sadd 59-36 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Al Gharafa looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Al Sadd's players. International swingman Abdulrahman Saad (185-96) notched 42 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and American forward Aaron Nelson (205-91, college: S.Indiana) supported him with 25 points and 16 rebounds. Four Al Gharafa players scored in double figures. Even 23 points by Faisal Abuissa did not help to save the game for Al Sadd. The former international swingman Yassin Taha (192-92) added 14 points and 13 rebounds. Al Gharafa maintains seventh position with 2-3 record. Loser Al Sadd still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Al Khor. Al Gharafa's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Arabi.
