Regular Season Round 15: Pesaro - Cantu 72-87

Bottom-ranked Pesaro (0-14) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 87-72 loss to thirteenth ranked Cantu (7-7) in Pesaro. They outrebounded Pesaro 47-32 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Jason Burnell (201-97, college: Jacksonville St.) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 5 rebounds. American-Liberian point guard Joe Ragland (182-89, college: Wichita St.) contributed with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Cantu's coach Cesare Pancotto let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Power forward Leonardo Tote (209-97) answered with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and Serbian guard Vasa Pusica (196-95, college: Northeastern) added 14 points and 4 assists in the effort for Pesaro. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cantu have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Varese and Venezia. Pesaro at the other side still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Cantu will play against higher ranked Brescia (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pesaro will play against Umana Venezia (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
