Regular Season Round 13: Poitiers - Quimper 64-91

Very expected game when 18th ranked Poitiers (1-12) was smashed at home by fifth ranked Quimper UJAP (9-4) 91-64 on Friday. Quimper UJAP shot 24 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Poitiers only scored seven points from the stripe. Poitiers was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for Nigerian forward Chima Moneke (190-95, college: UC Davis) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American David Jackson (192-86, college: W.Illinois) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Four Quimper UJAP players scored in double figures. Naturalized DR Congolese point guard Carl Ona-Embo (188-89) answered with 17 points and Nigerian-American power forward Efe Uwadiae-Odigie (203-89, college: Claflin) added 16 points in the effort for Poitiers. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Quimper UJAP. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Nantes. Poitiers lost their ninth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Quimper UJAP will face Gries/Oberhoffen (#11) in Bischwiller in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Poitiers will play on the road against Olympique Antibes (#10) and hope to win that game.
