Regular Season Round 25: Toyoda Gosei - Okayama 87-65

Rather expected game in Aichi where 5th ranked Okayama (13-11) was crushed by second ranked Toyoda Gosei (19-6) 87-65 on Saturday. Toyoda Gosei dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Okayama's 36. Toyoda Gosei forced 20 Okayama turnovers and outrebounded them 37-25 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. JD Weatherspoon (198-92, college: Toledo) fired 21 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Luke Evans (203-91, college: CBU) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Toyoda Gosei players scored in double figures. Forward Terrance King (198-90, college: E.Stroudsburg) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds and forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: FAU) added 6 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyoda Gosei maintains second place with 19-6 record having just two points less than leader Iwate Big Bulls. Newly promoted Okayama keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Toyoda Gosei will again meet at home Okayama (#5) in the next round. Okayama will have a break next round.
