Regular Season Round 19: Lucenec - Rieker KN 77-70

Very expected game when 9th ranked Rieker KN (3-14) was defeated on the road by second ranked Lucenec (11-6) 77-70. Lucenec outrebounded Rieker KN 39-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Puerto Rican-American Melsahn Basabe (201-92, college: Iowa) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 9 rebounds. American point guard Mike Caffey (183-93, college: LBSU) contributed with 10 points for the winners. Four Lucenec players scored in double figures. Lucenec's coach Peter Jankovic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Miles Bowman-Jr (198-93, college: High Point) answered with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and Slovenian Igor Tratnik (207-89) added 10 points and 4 assists in the effort for Rieker KN. The victory was the third consecutive win for Lucenec. They maintain second place with 11-6 record having just two points less than leader Inter Bratislava. Rieker KN lost their eighth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Lucenec's next round opponent will be Prievidza (#3) at home, which may be the game of the day. Rieker KN will play against Nova Ves (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
