Regular Season Round 15: Eurobasket RO - Novipiu Casale 85-89

There was no surprise in Roma where 12th ranked Eurobasket RO (4-11) was defeated by fourth ranked Novipiu Casale (10-5) 89-85 on Saturday. Novipiu Casale made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. Eurobasket RO was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American guard Chris Roberts (193-88, college: Bradley) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 6 rebounds. The former international power forward Niccolo Martinoni (203-89) helped adding 13 points and 13 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Estonian guard Rain Veideman (194-91) with 26 points and 5 assists and American forward Steve Taylor-Jr (206-93, college: Toledo) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Novipiu Casale moved-up to third place in A2. Loser Eurobasket RO dropped to the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. Novipiu Casale will face SS Napoli (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Eurobasket RO will play against Bergamo Bsk (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
