Regular Season Round 11: Perth - Canberra 59-76

The game in Perth was also quite interesting. Third ranked Canberra Capitals (9-5) played at the court of 6th ranked Perth Lynx (5-9). Canberra Capitals did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 76-59 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Perth Lynx. Canberra Capitals looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Perth Lynx's players. It was an exceptional evening for Canadian guard Kia Nurse (183-96, college: UConn) who led the winners and scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Marianna Tolo (196-89) accounted for 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winning side. Four Canberra Capitals players scored in double figures. Canberra Capitals' coach Paul Goriss used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International Katie-Rae Ebzery (177-90) came up with 25 points and guard Marena Whittle (180-94, college: NDSU) added 4 points and 13 rebounds respectively for Perth Lynx in the defeat. Defending champion maintains third place with 9-5 record having just three points less than leader Southside. Perth Lynx at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Canberra Capitals will meet Bendigo Spirit (#7) on the road in the next round. Perth Lynx will play again against Canberra Capitals and hope to secure a win.
