Date: December 30, 2019
Korisliiga top team - Seagulls (20-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Kouvot (10-12) in Kouvola 85-66. It looked good early as Kouvot took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Seagulls had a 19-8 second period charge getting the lead and Kouvot was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-85. Seagulls shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. It was a quality performance for American point guard Richard Williams (178-87, college: San Diego St., agency: HMS) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 4 assists. Canadian guard Trae Bell-Haynes (188-95, college: Vermont) accounted for 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. American forward Derrick Barden-Jr (196-92, college: N.Colorado) came up with 19 points and the other American import forward Duke Shelton (208-95, college: Tampa) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Kouvot in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Seagulls have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 20-3 record. Kouvot at the other side keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. Seagulls will play against Ura Basket (#9) in Kaarina in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kouvot will have a break next round.
