Regular Season Round 70: Milwaukee B. - Minnesota T. 106-104

Date: January 1, 2020
Fifth-ranked Timberwolves (12-21) were very close to win a game against first ranked Bucks (31-5) in Milwaukee on Wednesday. Bucks managed to secure only two-point victory 106-104. However their fans expected much easier game. Bucks dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Timberwolves' 38. They outrebounded Timberwolves 60-48 including 48 on the defensive glass. Bucks looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Bucks made 12 blocks. 25 personal fouls committed by Timberwolves helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Greek-Nigerian swingman Giannis Antetokounmpo (211-94, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Khris Middleton (203-91, college: Texas A&M) contributed with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Puerto Rican-American point guard Shabazz Napier (185-91, college: UConn) replied with 22 points and 6 rebounds and guard Jarrett Culver (198-99, college: Texas Tech) added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Timberwolves. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Bucks have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 31-5 record. Timberwolves at the other side keep the fifth place with 21 games lost. Bucks will have a break next day, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Timberwolves will play at home against Warriors (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
