Regular Season Round 71: Minnesota T. - Golden St.W. 99-84

Date: January 2, 2020
There was a small surprise in Minnesota where fifth ranked Timberwolves (13-21) beat their close opponent Warriors (9-27) 99-84 on Thursday. Timberwolves looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Timberwolves made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was forward Robert Covington (206-90, college: Tennessee St.) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Puerto Rican-American point guard Shabazz Napier (185-91, college: UConn) chipped in 20 points and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Glenn Robinson-III (198-94, college: Michigan) produced 16 points and 6 rebounds and forward Eric Paschall (203-96, college: Villanova) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Timberwolves and four Warriors players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Timberwolves moved-up to third place, which they share with Phoenix Suns. Warriors lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 27 games lost.
