Rather expected game when 6th ranked Umana Venezia (8-8) was defeated on the road by third ranked Brescia (11-5) 70-64 on Saturday. Brescia made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Umana Venezia turnovers. Umana Venezia was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. International Awudu Abass (198-93, agency: Players Group) stepped up and scored 22 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners and American guard DeAndre Lansdowne (188-89, college: Fort Lewis, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. American swingman Jeremy Chappell (191-87, college: RMU) responded with 12 points and 6 rebounds and American-Dominican forward Mitchell Watt (208-89, college: Buffalo, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Brescia have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain third place with 11-5 record having just three points less than leader Virtus BO. Defending champion Umana Venezia dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Brescia will face Grissin Bon RE (#12) in Reggio Emilia in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Umana Venezia will play on the road against Trieste (#16) and hope to win that game.
