Regular Season Round 11: Marble CH - DCU Mercy 49-78

Super League top team - DCU Mercy (10-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Marble CH (0-11) in Kilkenny 78-49. DCU Mercy dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Marble CH's 32. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when DCU Mercy made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American forward Meredith Burkhall (190-97, college: Iowa St.) who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points and 5 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Ashley Russell (178, college: Pennsylvania) helped adding 8 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. DCU Mercy's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Katie Fox (165, college: St.Francis, NY) responded with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and Elaine Kennington (-90) scored 16 points and 5 blocks. DCU Mercy have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-1 record. Marble CH at the other side still closes the standings with 11 games lost. DCU Mercy are looking forward to face WIT Wildcats (#4) in Waterford in the next round. Marble CH will play at home against 11890 Killester (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
