Regular Season Round 31: Fukuoka R. - Sendai 89ers 79-81

Date: January 4, 2020
Sixth-ranked Fukuoka R. (8-24) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Sendai 89ers (23-9). The visitors from Sendai managed to secure only two-point victory 81-79. However their fans expected much easier game. Sendai 89ers players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: Inception Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) helped adding 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). At the losing side Spanish center David Doblas (209-81) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and American power forward Kevinn Pinkney (207-83, college: Nevada, agency: SDJ Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Fukuoka R. players scored in double figures. Fukuoka R.'s coach Iurgi Caminos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Sendai 89ers. They maintain first place with 23-9 record. Fukuoka R. at the other side keeps the sixth position with 24 games lost. They share it with Yamagata. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fukuoka R. will play again at home against the league's leader Sendai 89ers (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
