Regular Season Round 14: Haukar - KR 72-69

The most exciting game of round 14 in the Dominos League took place in Hafnarfjordur. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-ranked KR (10-4) to fifth ranked Haukar (9-5) 72-69 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of KR. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But KR won fourth quarter 18-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Haukar looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by KR helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Randi Brown (170-96, college: New Orleans) had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international point guard Thora Jonsdottir (171-97) chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. American guard Danielle Rodriguez (178-93, college: Utah) responded with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international Hildur Kjartansdottir (188-94, college: UTRGV) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Haukar have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. KR at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Haukar are looking forward to face Skallagrimur (#5) in Borganes in the next round. KR will play at home against Keflavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
