Grindavik has finally registered their first victory this season after 13 consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Breidablik (2-12) 84-71 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 31-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Grindavik dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Breidablik's 26. Grindavik forced 19 Breidablik turnovers. The best player for the winners was international swingman Briet Hinriksdottir (181-96) who scored 39 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. American guard Jordan Reynolds (180-95, college: Tennessee) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points, 16 rebounds and 9 assists. American guard Danni Williams (178, college: Texas) produced a double-double by scoring 32 points and 13 rebounds and guard Telma Asgeirsdottir (169-93) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Newly promoted Grindavik maintains eighth position with 1-13 record. It was Breidablik's sixth loss in a row. They keep the seventh place with 12 games lost. Grindavik will meet at home league's leader Valur in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Breidablik will play against Snaefell (#6) in Stykkisholmur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
