Regular Season Round 28: Shimane SM - San-en NP 78-56

There was a minor upset when their close opponent San-en NeoPhoenix (3-25) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Shimane Magic (10-18) 78-56 on Sunday. Shimane Magic looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American center Brian Qvale (208-88, college: Montana) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The other American import forward Robert Carter (206-94, college: Maryland) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Ukrainian center Viacheslav Kravtsov (212-87, agency: BeoBasket) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Shingo Okada (186-83) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Shimane Magic maintains sixth position with 10-18 record which they share with defeated San-en NeoPhoenix. San-en NeoPhoenix lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 25 games lost. Shimane Magic will face higher ranked Kyoto H. (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
