Regular Season Round 14: PAOK - Aris 101-84
Date: January 5, 2020
Bottom-ranked PAOK managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the five-game losing streak. This time they won against thirteenth-ranked Aris in Thessaloniki 101-84. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 17-point difference suggests that PAOK is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game without a history. PAOK led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American point guard Adam Smith (185-92, college: Georgia Tech) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points. The other American import guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Montenegrin forward Vladimir Dragicevic (206-86) replied with 19 points and 6 rebounds and international point guard Lefteris Bochoridis (193-94) added 15 points and 5 assists in the effort for Aris. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. PAOK (4-10) moved-up to thirteenth place. Aris at the other side dropped to the bottom position with 11 games lost. PAOK will play against higher ranked Larissa BC (#11) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Aris' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Thessaloniki Iraklis.
