Regular Season Round 17: Monaco - ASVEL 69-78

There was no surprise when 18th ranked Monaco (2-11) was defeated at home by fifth ranked ASVEL (9-6) 78-69 on Sunday. ASVEL forced 23 Monaco turnovers. Strangely Monaco outrebounded ASVEL 46-30 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Victor Diallo (200-1) who scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Felix Bastien (190-1) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. Four ASVEL players scored in double figures. Monaco Vincent Vermillac (190-1) produced 22 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and DR Congolese center Kevin Keliki (208-0) added 13 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the hosts. ASVEL have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 9-6 record. Monaco lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. ASVEL are looking forward to face Limoges (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Monaco will play against Strasbourg and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
