Regular Season Round 10: Montpellier - Landes 81-58

An interesting game for Montpellier (8-2) which hosted in Montpellier 4th ranked Basket Landes (6-4). First ranked Montpellier had an easy win 81-58. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Basket Landes. American center Stephanie Mavunga (190-95, college: Ohio St., agency: LBM Management) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 20 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized American forward Gabby Williams (180-96, college: UConn, agency: Wasserman) chipped in 29 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Montpellier's coach Thibaut Petit felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Czech swingman Romana Hejdova (184-88, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) responded with 15 points and 4 assists and the former international center Aby Gaye (195-95) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Despite that victory Montpellier went down to second position due to points difference, which they share with Bourges. Basket Landes at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Roche. Montpellier will play against Bretagne (#7) in Pleyber-Christ in the next round where they are favorite. Basket Landes will play at home against Villeneuve D'Ascq and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
