Very expected game when 11th ranked Costa Masnaga (3-9) was defeated on the road by third ranked Venezia (10-3) 73-56 on Sunday. Venezia made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Venezia outrebounded Costa Masnaga 46-26 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international point guard Debora Carangelo (169-92) stepped up and scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Latvian center Anete Steinberga (190-90, college: UTEP, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Venezia players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Reyna Frost (183-97, college: Cent Michigan, agency: Two Points) responded with 12 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Giulia Rulli (183-91, agency: SPORTlab Agency) scored 14 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Venezia maintains third place with 10-3 record having just two points less than leader Schio. Costa Masnaga lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth position with nine games lost. Venezia will face Torino (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Costa Masnaga will play against Vigarano and hope to win that game.
