Regular Season Round 15: PeKa - ToPo 98-88

Korisliiga top team - Peli-Karhut (13-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat seventh ranked Torpan Pojat (5-11) in Kotka 98-88. It looked good early as Torpan Pojat took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Peli-Karhut had a 29-21 second period charge getting the lead and Torpan Pojat was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 88-98. Peli-Karhut made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Peli-Karhut outrebounded Torpan Pojat 41-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Peli-Karhut brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. It was a good game for American guard Zykira Lewis (173-94, college: UCF, agency: Two Points) who led her team to a victory with 30 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Her fellow American import forward Zykera Rice (185, college: Gonzaga) contributed with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American guard Alex Louin (183-96, college: Villanova, agency: Promo Sport ID) answered with a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and point guard Laura Juhola (167-92) added 11 points and 6 assists in the effort for Torpan Pojat. Four Torpan Pojat players scored in double figures. Peli-Karhut have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. Despite that victory Peli-Karhut went down to second position due to points difference. Torpan Pojat at the other side keeps the seventh place with 11 games lost. Peli-Karhut's next round opponent will be Tapiolan Honka (#5) on the road. Torpan Pojat will play against HyPo and hope to win that game.
