Regular Season Round 12: Sydney Uni - Melbourne 63-86
Date: January 5, 2020
The game in Sydney supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Boomers (12-3) played at the court of 5th ranked Sydney Uni Flames (6-10). Boomers smashed Sydney Uni Flames 86-63 on Sunday. They outrebounded Sydney Uni Flames 48-33 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Cayla George (192-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Lindsay Allen (173-95, college: Notre Dame) who added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international power forward Lauren Scherf (196-96) with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Alex Wilson (174-94) scored 9 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Boomers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-3 record behind leader Southside. Loser Sydney Uni Flames keep the fifth place with ten games lost. Boomers will face league's leader Southside Flyers in Dandenong in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sydney Uni Flames will play at home against Townsville Fire (#8) and hope to win that game.
