Rather predictable result when second ranked Universidad Catolica (12-11) defeated on the road 6th ranked Quilicura (3-17) 86-72 on Wednesday. Universidad Catolica made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Quilicura was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard DJ Ursery (193, college: Alaska-Anch.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners and his fellow American import Scott Cutley (196-85, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 21 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Cutley is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Universidad Catolica players scored in double figures. American forward Timothy Simmons (195-92, college: DBU, agency: Prestige Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and American-Jamaican power forward Phil Henry (203-91, college: E.New Mexico) scored 17 points. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Universidad Catolica. They maintain second place with 12-11 record having three points less than leader Las Animas. Loser Quilicura keeps the sixth position with 17 games lost. Universidad Catolica will face Temuco (#5) on the road in the next round. Quilicura will play against CD Puerto Varas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
