Regular Season Round 12: Orlovi - Celje 59-77

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Slovenian Celje (10-2) beat bottom-ranked Bosnian Orlovi (1-11) in Banja Luka 77-59 on Wednesday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Celje's pressure prevailed and they won that period 19-6 extending their advantage to 18 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Orlovi to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Orlovi 52-40 including 37 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Swedish guard Paulina Hersler (190-94, college: Florida) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds and American guard Taeler Deer (165-96, college: Texas St.) supported her with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Celje players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 8 rebounds by Serbian swingman Tamara Rajic (182-93) did not help to save the game for Orlovi. Guard Vanja Vasilic (165-96) added 15 points. Defending Slovenian champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Montana. Orlovi lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Celje will meet at home Banovici (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Orlovi will play against Buducnost (#3) in Podgorica and hope to win that game.
