Regular Season Round 25: KTP Basket - Kauhajoki 89-95

An interesting game for Kauhajoki (17-8) which played road game in Kotka against 4th placed KTP Basket (13-11). Third ranked Kauhajoki managed to get a 6-point victory 95-89. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But KTP Basket won third quarter 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded KTP Basket 43-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. American players dominated the game. Guard Cameron Jones (193-89, college: NAU) stepped up and scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and forward Samuel Givens (198-89, college: Drexel) chipped in 24 points and 5 rebounds. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side guard Byron Wesley (196-92, college: Gonzaga) responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds and forward JayVaughn Pinkston (201-91, college: Villanova) scored 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains third place with 17-8 record having three points less than leader Seagulls. KTP Basket at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Kauhajoki will play against Kobrat (#10) in Lapua in the next round and are hoping to win another game. KTP Basket will play on the road against BC Nokia (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
