Regular Season Round 16: Asseco Arka - Spojnia 82-97

We should mention about the upset which took place in Gdynia, where higher ranked Asseco Arka (10-6) lost at home to tenth ranked Spojnia Stargard (7-9) 82-97. Spojnia Stargard dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Asseco Arka's 20. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. The winners were led by the former international Mateusz Kostrzewski (200-89, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored that evening 21 points and 6 rebounds and American swingman Raymond Cowels-III (191-91, college: Santa Clara) supported him with 25 points (perfect from downtown making all six shots !!!). Even 28 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by American swingman Josh Bostic (196-87, college: Findlay, OH) did not help to save the game for Asseco Arka. His fellow American import Leyton Hammonds (203-94, college: Oklahoma St., agency: Inception Sports) added 10 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Five Spojnia Stargard and four Asseco Arka players scored in double figures. Spojnia Stargard moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Slask Wroclaw. Asseco Arka at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Spojnia Stargard's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Polpharma (#16) in Starogard Gdanski and are hoping to win another game. Asseco Arka will play on the road against Trefl (#6) in Sopot and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
