Regular Season Round 17: Las Animas - Temuco 87-79

There was no surprise in Valdivia where 5th ranked Temuco (9-13) was defeated by first ranked Las Animas (17-3) 87-79 on Saturday. Las Animas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international guard Franco Morales (179-92) stepped up and scored 21 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals for the winners and American Khapri Alston (198-94, college: Midwestern St., agency: Agency) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. South African forward Pieter Prinsloo (208-92, college: Marist, agency: Promo Sport ID) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and American guard Kenny Wormley (193-96, college: Hofstra) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 21 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Las Animas maintains first place with 17-3 record. Loser Temuco keeps the fifth position with 13 games lost. Las Animas will face AB Ancud (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Temuco will play against the league's second-placed Universidad Catolica and hope to win that game.
