Regular Season Round 17: Quilicura - AB Ancud 78-85

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked AB Ancud (8-11) beat on the road their close opponent Quilicura (3-17) 85-78 on Saturday. AB Ancud looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Quilicura was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Argentinian Lisandro Rasio (198-90) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and American swingman Jovonni Shuler (195-87, college: SSU) chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds. Worth to mention Shuler played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. American forward Timothy Simmons (195-92, college: DBU, agency: Prestige Sports) responded with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Jamaican power forward Phil Henry (203-91, college: E.New Mexico) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for AB Ancud. They maintain sixth place with 8-11 record which they share with defeated Quilicura. Loser Quilicura keeps the sixth position with 17 games lost. AB Ancud will face league's leader Las Animas in Valdivia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
