No shocking result in a game when third ranked Firenze (12-3) crushed at home 11th ranked Cestestica Aquila (4-10) 77-53 on Saturday. Firenze dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Cestestica Aquila's 22. They outrebounded Cestestica Aquila 44-22 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for center Gino Cuccarolo (221-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Andrea Filippi (197-97) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Firenze's coach Andrea Niccolai felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized Argentinian swingman Santiago Boffelli (195-83) replied with 14 points and guard Marco Cucco (189-94, agency: Players Group) added 12 points in the effort for Cestestica Aquila. Firenze maintains third position in B with 12-3 record behind leader Benedetto CE. Newly promoted Cestestica Aquila keeps the eleventh place with ten games lost. Firenze will face Palermo GB (#4) on the road in the next round. Cestestica Aquila will play against USE Basket (#6) and hope to win that game.
