Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Menorca (10-7) defeated on the road 7th ranked Albacete (7-10) 77-70 on Saturday. Albacete was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Duby Okeke (203-94, college: Nebraska) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Garret Covington (196-94, college: W.Illinois) chipped in 14 points. Four Menorca players scored in double figures. Menorca's coach Oriol Pages used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American-Dominican Eddy Polanco (190-94, college: SE Louisiana) responded with 19 points and Canadian forward Ryan Ejim (201-93, college: Carleton) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Menorca maintains fourth place in Silver with 10-7 record. Loser Albacete dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. Menorca will face La Roda (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Albacete will play against Benicarlo in Castellon and hope to win that game.
