Regular Season Round 11: Al Arabi - Al Sadd 93-75

Another exciting game was again a derby match of two teams from Doha: Al Arabi (#3) and Al Sadd (#9). Al Arabi (9-2) crushed visiting Al Sadd (1-12) by 18 points 93-75. They outrebounded Al Sadd 42-26 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Arabi players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Al Sadd's players. American-Iraqi point guard Kevin Galloway (200-88, college: Texas Southern) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 9 rebounds and 14 assists. Bosnian-Serbian power forward Miroslav Todic (205-85) contributed with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Al Arabi's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Babacar Dieng (198-97) answered with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and American guard Juan'Ya Green (188-92, college: Hofstra, agency: 3Eye) added 16 points and 5 assists in the effort for Al Sadd. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Al Arabi. They moved-up to second place. Al Sadd at the other side stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Al Arabi's next round opponent will be Al Khor (#8) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Al Sadd's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Qatar Sports Club.
