Everything went according to plan when third ranked Quimper UJAP (10-4) beat at home 11th ranked Gries/Oberhoffen (6-8) 86-76 on Saturday. Nigerian forward Chima Moneke (190-95, college: UC Davis) scored 17 points to lead the charge for the winners and American David Jackson (192-86, college: W.Illinois) chipped in 17 points during the contest. Quimper UJAP's coach Laurent Foirest used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Spanish forward Asier Zengotitabengoa (199-88) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Kevin Thalien (190-92) scored 14 points. Quimper UJAP have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Loser Gries/Oberhoffen dropped to the thirteenth position with eight games lost. Quimper UJAP will face Nantes (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gries/Oberhoffen will play against Sluc Nancy (#4) and hope to win that game.
