Regular Season Round 16: Varese Robur - Padova 53-73

Very expected game when 15th ranked Varese Robur (4-12) was smashed at home by third ranked Padova (13-3) 73-53 on Saturday. It was a very good performance for the former international point guard Francesco De-Nicolao (185-93) who helped to win the game recording 8 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Center Ivan Morgillo (206-92, agency: Players Group) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Padova players scored in double figures. Point guard Simone Ferrarese (184-87) replied with 8 points and Christian Gatto (-96) added 4 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Varese Robur. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Padova have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in B, which they share with San Vendemiano. Varese Robur lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with 12 games lost. Padova will face Olginate (#13) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Varese Robur will play against Vicenza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
