Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Santurtzi (3-11) was defeated at home by third ranked Mondragon (10-4) 82-66 on Saturday. Mondragon outrebounded Santurtzi 41-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. Santurtzi was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American center Zach Kirschbaum (208-93, college: Trinity Intern.) who scored 24 points and 9 rebounds. Simion Mancebo (200-94) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Mondragon players scored in double figures. Mondragon's coach Inaki Ogara used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Imanol Artinano (203-95, college: Alders.-Broad.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Pablo Albisu (179-95) added 14 points, 6 assists and 4 steals respectively. The victory was the third consecutive win for Mondragon. They maintain third place in Group A-A with 10-4 record behind leader Lliria. Loser Santurtzi keeps the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. Mondragon will face Ardoi (#6) in Zizur Mayor in the next round. Santurtzi will play at home against Filipenses (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
