Regular Season Round 15: Peristeri GS - Rethymno 71-61

Date: January 11, 2020
Very predictable result when fourth ranked Peristeri GS (10-5) won against 10th ranked Rethymno (6-9) in Athens 71-61 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Peristeri GS. Rethymno managed to win second period 21-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for American Steven Gray (196-89, college: Gonzaga, agency: Octagon Europe) who led the winners and scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Angolan center Yanick Moreira (211-91, college: SMU, agency: BeoBasket) accounted for 9 points for the winning side. American point guard Conner Frankamp (185-95, college: Wichita St.) came up with 21 points and the other American import forward Josh Carter (201-88, college: Texas A&M) added 17 points respectively for Rethymno in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Peristeri GS maintains fourth place with 10-5 record. Loser Rethymno dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Peristeri GS's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Panionios.
