Regular Season Round 11: Flammes - Bourges 73-70

The most exciting game of round 11 in the LFB took place in Charleville. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Bourges (8-3) to tenth ranked Flammes (4-7) 73-70 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Bourges. It was a great evening for Nigerian power forward Evelyn Akhator (190-95, college: Kentucky) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Belgian Kim Mestdagh (179-90, college: Colorado St.) helped adding 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Flammes players scored in double figures. American swingman Marissa Coleman (185-87, college: Maryland) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and international power forward Alexia Chartereau (189-98) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Flammes moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Tarbes and Hainaut. Bourges at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Montpellier. Flammes is looking forward to face higher ranked Basket Landes (#4) in Mont de Marsan in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bourges will play at home against the league's leader Lyon and will have a slim chance for a victory.
