There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Katarzynki (3-10) beat 8th ranked Politechnika Gdanska (6-8) in Torun 57-48 on Saturday. Katarzynki held Politechnika Gdanska to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.7 percent accuracy of the winners. American players dominated the game. Swingman Naomi Davenport (183, college: WVU) notched a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and center Latoya Williams (192-87, college: Chipola JC) supported her with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Katarzynki players scored in double figures. Even 9 points and 8 rebounds by center Jenna Smith (190-88, college: Illinois, agency: Two Points) did not help to save the game for Politechnika Gdanska. Guard Presley Hudson (168-97, college: Cent Michigan, agency: Two Points) added 10 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Politechnika Gdanska's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Katarzynki moved-up to ninth place. Politechnika Gdanska at the other side keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Katarzynki will meet higher ranked Wisla Krakow (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Politechnika Gdanska will play against AZS Gorzow and hope to secure a win.
