Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked Zeus NPC Rieti (9-8) defeated at home 13th ranked Orlandina CdO (5-12) 71-56 on Sunday. Zeus NPC Rieti made 26-of-30 free shots (86.7 percent) during the game. Orlandina CdO was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Jalen Cannon (198-93, college: St.Francis, NY) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Naturalized American point guard Anthony Raffa (185-89, college: Coastal) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Marco Lagana (197-93) answered with 15 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Brice Johnson (206-94, college: UNC) added 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for Orlandina CdO. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Zeus NPC Rieti moved-up to eighth place in A2. Loser Orlandina CdO keeps the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Zeus NPC Rieti will face higher ranked Latina Basket (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Orlandina CdO will play against SS Napoli (#10) and hope to win that game.
