There was a minor upset in Las Palmas where 11th ranked Gran Canaria (8-9) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Baskonia (8-9) 89-72 on Sunday. Baskonia made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Danish swingman Shavon Shields (201-94, college: Nebraska) who scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Georgian Tornike Shengelia (206-91, agency: Wasserman) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Matt Costello (206-93, college: Michigan St.) produced 8 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Demonte Harper (193-89, college: Morehead St.) added 10 points respectively for the hosts. Five Baskonia and four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games.
