Regular Season Round 17: Valencia - Joventut 100-70

Date: January 12, 2020
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Valencia Basket and 9th ranked Joventut had identical 8-8 record. This time Valencia Basket used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Badalona 100-70 on Sunday night. Valencia Basket shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was French Louis Labeyrie (209-92) who scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. The former international Alberto Abalde (202-95) chipped in 12 points. Turkish forward Kerem Kanter (207-95, college: Xavier) produced 14 points and Slovenian guard Klemen Prepelic (191-92) added 13 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia Basket (9-8) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Joventut dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Valencia Basket will face UCAM Murcia (#15) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Joventut will play against Burgos (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
