Regular Season Round 15: Betanzos - Xiria 85-76

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Betanzos and 13th ranked Xiria had identical 3-8 record. This time Betanzos used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Carballo 85-76 on Sunday night. Betanzos outrebounded Xiria 46-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was center Marcos Rozas (202-83) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Guillermo Pereiro (191-89) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Senegalese center Alioune Senghor (200-96) who recorded 25 points and 7 rebounds and forward Martin Bello (195-97) added 17 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Xiria's coach Fernando Buendia tested twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Betanzos (4-8) moved-up to ninth place in Group A-B, which they share with Estudiantes L. and Univ.Valladolid. Xiria lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with nine games lost. Betanzos will face league's leader Carbajosa on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Xiria will play against La Antigua (#8) and hope to win that game.
