Regular Season Round 11: Al Shamal - Al Ahli 85-64

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Shamal (#1) and Al Ahli (#6). Al Shamal (10-3) crushed visiting Al Ahli (6-5) by 21 points 85-64. Al Shamal dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Al Ahli's 36. Al Shamal had a 33-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for Georgian point guard George Tsintsadze (192-86) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Aaron Mitchell (188-89, college: Longwood) helped adding 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Al Shamal players scored in double figures. American guard Jeff Newberry (188-92, college: Oklahoma St.) responded with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Aaron Rountree-III (203-93, college: Iona) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Al Shamal have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 10-3 record. Al Ahli at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Al Shamal's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Gharafa.
