Regular Season Round 13: Unicaja - Mataro Parc 72-49

Date: January 12, 2020
No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Unicaja (8-5) crushed 11th ranked Mataro Parc (4-9) in Malaga 72-49 on Sunday. Unicaja dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Mataro Parc's 18. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a very good performance for power forward Veronica Matoso (185-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Mexican-American guard Angela Rodriguez (173-91, college: Milwaukee) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Four Unicaja players scored in double figures. Unicaja's coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. German guard Alina Hartmann (183-95, college: Colorado, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) answered with 15 points and 6 rebounds and center Olga Ruano (191-88) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Mataro Parc. Unicaja moved-up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with Girona and Barca CBS. Loser Mataro Parc keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. Unicaja will face higher ranked Lima-Horta (#4) in Barcelona in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mataro Parc will play on the road against Almeria (#8) and hope to win that game.
