Regular Season Round 15: Almozara - Calvia 62-73

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Calvia and 14th ranked Almozara had identical 3-10 record. But Almozara was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Calvia 73-62 on Sunday night. Calvia dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Almozara's 28. Calvia had a 42-31 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was power forward Jose-Maria Morales (204-89) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists. Jesus Gonzalez chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Calvia players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Pablo Gracia (197-96) who recorded 11 points and 8 rebounds and forward Hugo Cano (195-93) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Calvia (4-10) moved-up to eleventh place in Group C-A, which they share with Alfinden. Newly promoted Almozara keeps the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. Calvia will face higher ranked Maristes Ademar (#9) in Badalona in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Almozara will play on the road against Alfinden (#12) in Zaragoza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
