The most interesting game of round 17 was a home defeat of 7th ranked Cocinas.com (8-9) by fourth ranked Ponferrada CDP (9-8) who outscored them by 17 points 88-71. American forward Sean McDonnell (203, college: Westmont) stepped up and scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners and Luis Ferrando (185-96, college: Mount Olive) chipped in 17 points. Five Ponferrada CDP players scored in double figures. Lithuanian center Jonas Paukste (220-0) responded with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks and power forward Marcos Portalez (204-95, agency: Interperformances) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Ponferrada CDP maintains fourth place in Silver with 9-8 record. Cocinas.com at the other side dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. Ponferrada CDP are looking forward to face Navarra (#5) in Pamplona in the next round.
