The most shocking disappointment of round 17 was a home defeat of 6th ranked New Zealand Breakers (9-12) to seventh ranked Bullets (10-11) 95-85. Bullets dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to New Zealand Breakers' 38. They outrebounded New Zealand Breakers 41-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. American swingman Lamar Patterson (196-91, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Pensack Sports) stepped up and scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and his fellow American import forward EJ Singler (198-90, college: Oregon) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American swingman Scotty Hopson (200-89, college: Tennessee) responded with 14 points and 6 assists and New Zealand forward Thomas Abercrombie (198-87, college: WSU) scored 17 points. Five Bullets and four New Zealand Breakers players scored in double figures. Bullets moved-up to sixth place. New Zealand Breakers at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 12 games lost. Bullets are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Illawarra Hawks (#9) in Gwynneville in the next round. New Zealand Breakers will play at home against United and are hoping to win this game.
