Regular Season Round 15: Split - Cibona 82-74

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Split. Third ranked Split faced second-best Cibona. Host Split (11-4) defeated guests from Zagreb (11-3) 82-74. Split looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Cibona helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international center Antonio Vrankovic (213-96, college: Duke) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Tomislav Gabric (204-95) chipped in 21 points and 6 assists. Four Split players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Slovenian point guard Matic Rebec (183-95, agency: PEPI SPORT) who recorded 16 points and 6 assists and power forward Mate Vucic (203-97) added 14 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Split have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 11-4 record having just three points less than leader Zadar, which they share with Gorica. Defending champion Cibona keeps the second position with three games lost. Split is looking forward to face league's leader KK Zadar on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cibona will play against Alkar and is hoping to win this game.
