Very predictable result when leader Gorizont (14-0) rolled over bottom-ranked Gomel (2-13) in Minsk 117-31 on Sunday. The game without a history. Gorizont led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gomel to just 4 points in second quarter and to 14 points in second half. Gorizont held Gomel to an opponent 14.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 63.3 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Gomel 56-25 including a 43-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gorizont looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Gomel's players. It was a good game for American forward Bree Alford (183-96, college: Loyola Mary) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Maryia Trafimenkava (167-2) contributed with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Gorizont players scored in double figures. Forward Anna Hatskevich (180-92) answered with 7 points and 12 rebounds and Ukrainian guard Nika Korinna (170-96) added 7 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Gomel. Gorizont have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-0 record. Gomel at the other side stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Gorizont will face Victoria (#4) in Grodno in the next round.
