Regular Season Round 23: Zilina - Lucenec 69-72

The most exciting game of round 23 in the SBL took place in Zilina. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Zilina (10-10) to second ranked Lucenec (13-8) 72-69 on Wednesday evening. The best player for the winners was American point guard Mike Caffey (183-93, college: LBSU) who scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international guard Jaroslav Musil (192-89) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Lucenec's coach Peter Jankovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Lucenec maintains second place with 13-8 record having four points less than leader Inter Bratislava, which they share with Levice. Zilina at the other side keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Lucenec is looking forward to face Nova Ves (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Zilina will play against Prievidza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
